Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2016

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2016 . London
Once again the beginning of the summer season in London has been inaugurated with the presentation of the new 2016 edition of the Serpentine Gallery Papillon.

This year the honor of designing and constructing the building has fallen to the Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The work presented takes the name of "unzipped world" and is made with huge stacks of translucent fiberglass blocks which combine opacity and transparency.

This year the Serpentine Gallery has also commissioned four other architects to design the Summer Houses. Four temporary structures inspired by the Queen Caroline's Temple, a neoclassical temple in Kensington Gardens.

Asif Khan, Barkow Leibinger, Kunlé Adeyemi and Yona Friedman are the designers selected by the Serpentine Gallery as modern interpreters of the original temple built in the 18th century.
