The Teshima Art Museum is located on the Japanese island of Teshina in a position facing the Sea of Seto. The architectural project was designed by Ryue Nishizawa, one of the founders of the studio Sajima Nishizawa and Associates (NASAA). The designer has thought the shape of the thin outer casing of cement as that of a drop of water.

The structure was designed with the intent to be inserted organically into the landscape. The roof of the building is provided with two circular apertures with the function of windows but whitout glass that allow direct visual contact with the sky and with the ocean and access to sunlight together with that of birds, rain, wind and other natural agents.
