A particular technique used by Chardon is to use supports which by definition born with geometries intrinsic to the materials. The juxtaposition of shapes such as squares, circles and rectangles by means of painting creates lines that are distorted by tension and which result in optical illusions. The vibrating and oscillating final result contrasts with the rigor of the original materials and shapes.

Above: Rouge, Jaune, Bleu, 2010. In this work, Chardon expertly exploits the techniques of modernist painting and staining, described in manifest De Stijl.
The primary colors stand out on a regular grid of squares. The table wants to be an alphabet to be used to translate all the expressive power of this technique, which comes from a famous work of Mondrian.
