Richard Avedon is one of the greatest photographers that the fashion world has ever known. Born in 1927 in New York City, he begins to take the first photographs at the age of 9 with the Kodak brownie presented to him by his father.

At nineteen, he abandoned his studies to enlist in the Navy in the role of photographer where in addition to the ordinary work takes pictures with his fellow comrade. Upon returning from World War II begins a course at the New School for Social Research where meets his teachers Alexey Brodovitch that guessed his talent introduced him to the staff of Harper'a Bazaar. This is the first in a series of works that will mark his career. Avedon will work with designers such as Cardin, Versace and Dior, will shoot for Vogue, The New Yorker, and Life.

His models captured in poses rigid for the street or in clubs mark up the photograph nowadays. The portraits of his muse, from Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot until Jean Shrimpton and Giselle Bündchen, are part of collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
