Philanthropists Eli & Edythe Broad, already promoters for the realization of The Broad in Michigan, are back with a new project devoted to contemporary art in Los Angeles. This time the design of the building was entrusted to the New York firm Diller Sconfidio + Renfro.

The concept that gave origin to design of the museum is "the veil and the vault", a term to indicate the merging that is desired to maintain between public spaces and storage. The vault with his heavy and opaque mass is always in view and wraps the veil created with an airy structure, honeycomb, which helps to filter light into the interior. The new museum will be open to the public since 2015.
